For Lori Hartglass, it’s the subtleties that keep life interesting in the commercial real estate business.

For instance, one of her first projects as associate general counsel for Aventura-based developer Turnberry Associates involved the determining of air rights for the Fontainebleau II luxury condo project in Miami Beach. It was an issue because the 36-story tower doesn’t start until the seventh floor. Parking is below the structure.

Hartglass said it was some of the toughest work of her career which, for Turnberry, now includes representation in buying, selling and financing commercial real estate.

“You’re always learning something new. There’s always a nuance that keeps it interesting,” she said of her 19 years as a commercial real estate attorney. Prior to joining Turnberry in May 2002, she was a capital partner at Holland & Knight, working in their Miami and Fort
Lauderdale offices.

She received her J.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in management from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She has a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV, the highest possible.

Hartglass served as president of CREW Miami and later was the founding president of CREW Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach. She has been an active fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since 1989 and won the Vision in Service to Associations Award from the National Association of
Women Business Owners in 1997.

In 2000, she authored an article titled “Tax Savings on Multi-State Loans with Florida Real Estate Collateral” which appeared in Florida Real Estate Journal, Corporate Real Estate Executive and The Real Estate Finance Journal.

For all her qualifications and achievements, the next big thing for Lori Hartglass, she says, will be a long professional relationship with Turnberry & Associates because there’s no reason to look elsewhere.

“I tend to stay where I am. Turnberry does unique transactions. You’re always going to do something cutting edge and top of the line,” she says.
