SIKON under way on new Fresh Market

MIAMI BEACH - Deerfield Beach-based SIKON Construction is building the innovative new $7 million, three-story, 84,000sf Fresh Market specialty foods store and parking garage project at 1800 West Ave. in the South Beach section of Miami Beach. Designed by api(+) Architects, Coral Gables and Tampa, the project will consist of two levels of parking atop the 28,000sf Fresh Market store. The project is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Merin Hunter Codman lands new assignments

WEST PALM BEACH - NAI/Merin Hunter Codman has been named the exclusive leasing agent for five retail properties in Palm Beach County.

The new assignments collectively total more than 375,000sf, comprised of three retail centers in Boca Raton and two in Jupiter.

The three new assignments in Boca Raton are Palmetto Park Square, a 195,000sf retail center in a prime location at the northeast corner of Palmetto Park Road and I-95; Village Tower Shoppes at Southwest 18th Street, a 30,000sf community center; and Beltran Plaza, a 5,000sf, freestanding building at 2351 North Federal Highway.

M&M closes $4M shopping center sale

FORT LAUDERDALE - Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services announced the sale of Midtown at Forest Acres, a 695,000sf, lender-owned enclosed shopping mall at 3400 Forest Drive in Columbia, S.C. The property commanded a sales price of $4,429,000 representing $6.37 psf.

Senior Associate Bill Kohlhepp of the Fort Lauderdale office and Senior Associate Bill Buford Jr. of the Clinton, S.C., office represented the seller of the property, Richland Joint Venture Group LLC. The buyer was represented by R. Leon Jones Realty, Columbia, S.C.

SIKON breaks ground on Frenchman’s Crossing

PALM BEACH GARDENS - SIKON Construction broke ground on the new $7.5 million Publix supermarket at Frenchman’s Crossing shopping center at the northwest corner of Hood Road and Alternate A1A in Palm Beach Gardens. The 10-acre, 62,631sf project includes the new 46,031sf Publix as well as 16,600sf of additional retail space. Designed by Marc Weiner, AIA, Boca Raton, the project is slated for completion in August.

Moss completes South Beach Publix

MIAMI - Moss & Associates, one of Florida’s largest construction management companies, recently completed a 45,000sf Publix supermarket at 5th Street and Alton Road in Miami Beach.

This $7.5 million project is a one of the supermarket giant’s urban concept stores. The South Beach grocery store is a part of a retail center, which is adjacent to a parking structure and various office and residential hi-rise structures.

Neal Realty reports January leases

FORT LAUDERDALE - Neal Realty & Investments Inc. announced it has negotiated the following retail leases in January 2010.

At the Shoppes of Cooper City, Little Quiapo leased 1,501sf of restaurant space. The five-year lease is valued at $150,721. Also at this center, Allstate Insurance Company leased 946sf for three years. This lease was valued at $53,685. The 34,900sf center is at 12125-12397 Sheridan St. in Cooper City and is owned by Shoppes of Cooper City Ltd.

Regency closes Pet Groomerie lease

JUPITER - Regency Centers has leased 1,600sf of retail space at Chasewood Plaza, 6230 Indiantown Road, to Pet Groomerie. This is the first retail location for mobile groomer Bright Eyed Pets, which currently serves more than 2,000 clients in Northern Palm Beach County.

NAI Southcoast sells 79,000sf center

PALM CITY - Veteran supermarket operators Jim and Jeff Sorbara purchased the 79,000sf Old Palm City Towne Square Shopping Center from Land Holdings LLC, PNC Bank, for an undisclosed sum. The plan is to open the store after refurbishing. The new owners anticipate hiring 150 to 200 employees.

Boyd Bradfield of NAI Southcoast brokered the sale and will assist the new owners with leasing and management.

Bolnick named receiver for shopping center

MIAMI - Andrew J. Bolnick, of Andrew Bolnick & Associates, announced that Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Gisela Cardonne Ely has appointed him receiver for the 127th Street Shopping Center in North Miami, which is anchored by a Publix supermarket. The appointment was made at the request of Bank of America and with the agreement of the developer, Monroe’s Prestige Group.

Located at 12850 Biscayne Blvd., the 120,000sf center was built in 1959. Monroe’s Prestige Group had planned to renovate the property, which includes 13 other tenants.

Cohen Commercial signs Little Caesars

LANTANA - Bryan S. Cohen and Peter Crane of Cohen Commercial Realty Inc. announced the signing of Little Caesars Pizzeria to a 1,500sf bay at Lantana Shopping Center located just east of I-95 on Lantana Boulevard.

Little Caesars Pizzeria will be joining Publix, CVS Pharmacy, Dots, Dunkin Donuts, Gamestop and more. Cohen Commercial Realty Inc. represents Ramco-Gershenson Inc., the landlord of the property.
