Stiles zoo project earns LEED Gold

FORT LAUDERDALE - Stiles Construction President Timothy Moore announced that the Palm Beach Zoo’s new Melvin J. and Claire Levine Animal Care Complex has become the first zoo animal hospital in Florida to achieve Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

The veterinary care complex built by Stiles has achieved the statewide milestone through the U.S. Green Building Council’s rating system that considers five key areas: site planning, water management, energy management, material use, indoor air quality and innovation in the design process.

FECR named NAIOP Developer of the Year

MIAMI - Florida East Coast Realty (FECR), was named Developer of the Year by the South Florida chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. FECR was presented with the honor during the NAIOP South Florida Chapter 2010 Awards of Excellence event held at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) in Broward County.

Merin Hunter Codman marks new transactions

WEST PALM BEACH - NAI/Merin Hunter Codman Inc. recently announced the following new deals.

Richard Brockney represented the seller, Home Devco LLC, in selling the 6,506sf office building at Home Devco Plaza at 5350 West Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach. MD Assist LLC purchased the building for $1,502,898.

Orin Rosenfeld represented the landlord, Folkersen Interests Inc., in leasing 1,495sf of retail space to Chirorelease Group PLLC at Village Tower Shoppes at 6060 SW 18th St. in Boca Raton.

Tulepan Management closes 92,000sf in leasing

CORAL SPRINGS - Craig and Randy Tulepan of Tulepan Management LLC closed more than 92,000sf of new leases and renewals in the third and fourth quarters of 2009.

Transaction highlights include:

- At Coral Square Shoppes in Fort Pierce, Save A Lot grocer has executed a lease for 17,000sf.

VCM launches distressed division

MIAMI -VCM Construction, a building and construction company in South Florida, has launched a new division to address the current needs of the real estate market. The Distressed Property Consulting arm of the Aventura-based firm offers expert research, analysis and advice for lenders, developers, attorneys and asset managers in control of properties that are unfinished, under or non-performing or facing foreclosure or bankruptcy.

Brenner merges with Sentinel Property Mgmt.

FORT LAUDERDALE - Brenner Real Estate Group is expanding its Property Management Division with the merger of Sentinel Property Management led by Sentinel owner David Burgess.

In 2007, Sentinel began serving as a vendor for Brenner Real Estate Group, providing property management services for Brenner’s townhome community, The Oaks at Oakland Forest in Oakland Park.

Brenner will absorb Sentinel’s existing portfolio of 19 property management accounts totaling approximately 250,000sf, expanding Brenner’s total square footage under management to 1.7 msf.

Brenner marks deals at Cypress Commons

FORT LAUDERDALE - Brenner Real Estate Group announced one new lease and two lease renewals within Cypress Commons, the five-building office/flex campus at 1500 West Cypress Creek Road in Fort Lauderdale.

Kathleen Alberts, senior vice president, brokerage, and Suzanne Lopez, commercial associate, completed the following three transactions:

- Shared Technologies Inc. leased 950sf of office space within Cypress Commons. Alberts and Lopez represented the lessor, Cypress Commons LLC. Co-broker representing the tenant was Ken Edelman of Jones Lange LaSalle.

Investments Limited marks 100,000sf in transactions

BOCA RATON - Investments Limited announced the following new transactions, totaling more than 100,000sf of leased space.

The Design Club has leased 3,408sf of warehouse space at 3601 N. Dixie Highway in Boca Raton. Jacqueline Balin represented the landlord.

Bras & Specialties has leased 1,200sf of retail space at Royal Palm Place - 177 SE Mizner Blvd. in Boca Raton. Jacqueline Balin represented the landlord.

NAIOP SF to host Collegiate Challenge

FORT LAUDERDALE - NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, South Florida Chapter, will be hosting its first annual Collegiate Real Estate Challenge. Flagler has agreed to sponsor the Challenge and will provide its downtown Miami site that spans approximately eight acres as the case study for the competition.

Students will have the chance to interact with local real estate executives and showcase their development expertise in a one-of-a-kind competition.

Flagler closes year with nearly 4.4 msf in deals

CORAL GABLES - Brokers with Flagler Real Estate Services LLC closed 1,081,030sf of new and renewed lease transactions and 406,650sf of property sales in the fourth quarter of 2009. Flagler’s fourth quarter figures brought the company’s year-end total to nearly 4.4 msf of closed lease and sales transactions.
