ORLANDO - Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin Inc., an Orlando-based planning firm, was recognized recently for three projects helping to improve Central Florida communities.

The Florida Redevelopment Association issued its top “President’s Award” to the city of Orlando, Orange County and Glatting Jackson for the master plan for the Downtown Orlando Community Venues.

Glatting Jackson was commissioned by the city and county to prepare the plan, which lays out a strategic framework for developing world-class community venues in downtown Orlando. The plan emphasizes the role of the venues in strengthening the community and calls for redeveloping the Centroplex area into a “creative village” that will house new educational, residential and technology facilities. The $1.1 billion development effort includes an 18,500-seat events center, a 5,000-seat performing arts center and renovations to the existing Citrus Bowl.

Glatting Jackson also received an Orange County Award of Excellence for the landscape master plan for the University of Central Florida Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona.

In September, another of Glatting Jackson’s projects, Baldwin Park, received the Land Use Excellence Award from the Urban Land Institute’s Orlando District Council, and also received the Florida Association of Realtors’ Environmental (ENVY) Award. Glatting Jackson was the master landscape architect for Baldwin Park, a 1,100-acre mixed-use, sustainable community developed on the former Orlando Naval Training Center site.
